"On Thursday, February 2, we expect the House Transportation Committee to vote on the newly proposed American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act, a bill that eliminates crucial funds for biking and walking. As a Member of the Committee, Representative Rick Crawford of Arkansas's 1st District is in a key position to save dedicated funding for biking and walking. Please contact him today and ask him to vote to preserve biking and walking....."

The "Tweed Ride"! Tons of fun! Jan 29th Sunday 1 - 3PM. I believe this date is correct...but check the Facebook link below to confirm. Looks like the ride starts at the Clinton Presidential Center.

Free, everyone welcome! Meet up and wear your tweed and funky mustaches! Then we'll ride bicycles around town at a very social pace. Will end back downtown at Capitol Bar and Grill. Tweed bicycle polo after for anyone interested....."

Arkansas Bicycle Club Meeting Minutes Jan. 12, 2012
The Board met before the general meeting. The club officers were re-elected with Jim Britt as President. An annual budget of was approved.
The January 2012 meeting was held at Boudreaux’s in Maumelle. John Linck called the meeting to order at 6:55 p.m. Announcements were as follows:
• Free Bike Rodeo for kids at the NLR City Services parking lot, 120 Main St.NLR at 9 am to noon on Sat., January 21. Will have limited number of loaner bikes and helmets. Two bikes will be given away. We will have a ride from Two Rivers Park at 8:00 a.m. to this event.
• Overnight 40 mile B&B ride from Greers Ferry to Mountain View Sat.,Jan. 14 & 15.
• Three day Lake Ouachita ride is scheduled for Feb. 24, 25 & 26.
• Spring Bike Ride Around Arkansas (BRAA) will be a 6 day ride starting Apr 2nd from McGehee/Dermott. Kenny Gober is planning the route which will include McGehee, Dumas, Lake Village and Lake Chico. Let Kenny know if you would be interested in riding only a part of the route.
• Ken Gould announced that Lions World Services for the Blind would like to have volunteers to ride a tandem bike with blind students. He sent around a sign-up sheet for Lions World and volunteers to help with Bike to Work Week in May.
• Kenny Gober announced that Tour de Hoot will be held on May 19th in McGehee.
Robert Moore, Speaker of the Arkansas House of Representatives, presented a program on the improvements to the Delta Heritage Trail which will be 73 miles when completed. Fourteen miles of the trail have been completed from Helena junction to the Lake View community. Plans for the southern terminus of the trail near McGehee should be completed within a few weeks. He feels this trail has the potential to attract cyclists to experience the Arkansas Delta region.

CHAPEL HILL, NC (BRAIN)—Performance, Inc., is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to recall about 2,900 Forte Pro Carbon road pedals. The pedal body can break, causing the rider to lose control. The company has received reports of three pedals breaking; no injuries were reported.
The 2011 model year pedals have black bodies made of a carbon-injected thermoplastic. The front, top of the pedal has "Carbon" printed in red; the top middle has "EPS-R" embossed in the body with the "R" in red and on the top rear of the pedal the word "Forte" printed in white.....read more at BRAIN....
