ABC NewsAmazing Fruit Stand Stop....Scott AR Posted Saturday, June 23, 2007 by Sprokets

Scott Arkansas - Just past Cotham's....the fruit stand was open this morning. I guess it's open every Sat morning. Our ride gruppo came thru like usual, but today we decided to stop at the Fruit stand. We knew in the past this stand has been a reported favorite of many a cyclist. This morning was particularly special! Our gruppo pulled in and we were treated to sitting at a picnic table while the stand host peeled and cut our melons into edible portions for us and provided a salt shaker! He served the melons and we also picked a side of fresh plums which were the best plums I've had in a long time. Ice cold bottled water and Ice'd tea were provided to us while chowing down for our trip in. Man it was good and only cost $6 to feed 5 riders fresh fruit! If your riding to Scott..stop in and check it out. Located just past Cothams The fruit and veggie selection was incredible. I wish we had tried the blackberries...maybe next time.

ABC NewsABC Forums are under the weather Posted Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by Ian Hope

The ABC message board is having a little technical difficulty. I suspect we have a hacker problem. I am working on the issue but for the time please do not try to post anything to the boards. I will notify everyone when the boards are operational again. Sorry for the trouble this will cause.

###########################################################

UPDATE- the forums are working again. I ran a test post and it seems to be working propoerly. Let me know if any one has problems since I do not have the time right now to run a full diagnostic on the boards.

ABC NewsBurns Park Criterium Action Tonight! Posted Wednesday, June 13, 2007 by Sprokets

Tonight is the first of the Wednesday night criterium races in the Burns Park Soccer area. If you have never seen a criterium race, you really should stop by to watch the action.

http://www.carvebiketeam.com/2007/burns_park_crit_series.pdf

The best way to get there is to park on the Little Rock side of the Big Dam Bridge or at Cook's Landing and ride your bicycle the short distance to the soccer area. Come witness the peace and love of crit racing :-)

Please bring some desserts if you wish. The Prediction Ride is next Saturday, June 16th, 8:00 AM from the main picnic area at Pinnacle State Park. You must be an ABC member by the start time to win the trophy. Please register on-line here on the secure arkansasbicycleclub.org website (it is encrypted and does not store your credit card info). If you prefer a paper application, I can email one to you, and we'll have some at the picnic and Prediction Ride.

This is from our Man Steve on the Arkansas State Time Trial...

"USA Cycling's rules for state championships mandate that riders must have an annual license to be eligible for championship medals and jerseys. In the past we've ignored this rule for the State Time Trial. But this year we've been told that this requirement will be strictly enforced. Please help us get the word out that riders who buy a one-day license at the TT will get a start time and their finish will be recorded, but they will not be eligible for medals."
